BIRTHDAY GAMES
GAMES ARE SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF ANY BIRTHDAY PARTY.
IF YOU ARE HAVING A PARTY AT HOME, I THINK IT BEST TO HAVE RELAY GAMES, THAT WAY NO ONE IS THE "LOSER."
IF YOU DIVIDE THE CHILDREN AND PUT THEM INTO TWO TEAMS, THEY WILL THEN COMPETE AGAINST EACH TEAM
WITH THIS METHOD, THERE ARE NO PRIZES, BECAUSE THE CHILDREN ARE HAPPY AS A TEAM JUST TO HAVE WON!
HERE ARE SOME RELAY GAME IDEAS YOU CAN PLAY WITH ARTICLES YOU WILL ALREADY HAVE IN YOUR HOME
BALLOON 'TO DO' GAME
Everyone at the party gets a balloon.
Inside each balloon is a "to do" note.
The guests will try to break the balloons and have to do what the note inside says
ANOTHER BALLOON RELAY
Each team member has a balloon
The first member of each team has to run to the finish line, sit on their balloon and try to pop it.
The team with all their baloons popped first wins
YARN AND SPOON RELAY
2 Teams
Tie a spoon on the end of a ball of yarn for each team
First team member of each team puts spoon into shirt, and out of sleeve, passing it to the next member while holding onto the yarn.
First team to complete through sleeve of last member wins.
Each team member has a balloon
The first member of each team has to run to the finish line, sit on their balloon and try to pop it.

ORANGE ON THE FOREHEAD RELAY
2 Teams
Orange for each team
Two members from the same team place an orange on their foreheads and try to get to the finish line without losing the orange.
If the orange drops, they can pick it up and continue.
The team who finishes first wins..
PASS THE HAT GAME
Each team gets a hat (preferably larger brimmed)The object is to pass a hat from player to player without touching it with hands or without dropping it

If the hat drops, the team must start over at the beginning of the line. The first team to pass the hat all the way to the end wins
POPCORN RELAY
2 Teams
2 Pieces of popcorn per player
A box to put popcorn in
Put one piece of popcorn on each shoe.
The players have to walk, skip, or jump to the finish line without losing it off the shoe.
If the popcorns falls, pick it up, put it back on the shoe and continue to the finish line, then place it in the box, and go back to team.
The team whose players finish first wins.
BALLOON TARGET GAME
2 Teams
2 different colored balloons one for each team
(ie. green balloons for one team, red for another)
Place a box on the floor.
Have team members take turns blowing up a balloon, don't tie the end, and one by one let the balloon go, and the team that either gets the balloon into the box, or closest to it, wins
MARSHMALLOW RELAY
2 teams,
2 butter knives (one for each team-not a sharp one)
A bowl for each team
Bag of marshmallows
First member of each team must put as many marshmallow as they can on the knife
Then walk to the finish line and put the marshmallows into their bowl
The team that has the most marshmallows wins

THE CEREAL GAME Each team gets a bowl of rice krispy cereal (or other light cereal) A bowl to drop cereal from straw into Each team member gets a straw Each player takes a turn and sucks on the end of a straw so that a piece of cereal is attached to the other end. They then go to the finish line keeping the cereal attached to the straw, and drop it in the other bowl. |
PUZZLE GAME 2 teams 2 puzzles in bowl each member runs to bowl at finish line, picks up a puzzle piece, runs back to team, and when enough puzzle pieces have been brought back, the team tries to put it together. The team with the first puzzle together, wins |
CRUMPLED PAPER RELAY
2 Teams
A boxe of paper for each team
Crumple enough newspaper for each player
Give each player a pie pan
Taking turns, each player picks up a piece of paper with the pie pan, runs to the finish line and dumps it into another box.
The team who empties their box first, wins
SOCK RELAY
2 teams
2 boxes of mismatched socks
The first team member runs to the box of socks.
They put a sock on each foot
Take them back off, put the socks back in the box, and run back to teammates.
The next teammate does the same until all members have had a turn. The first team that completes the run, wins.

BACK TO BACK BALLOON RELAY
2 teams
A balloon for each two players
2 Team members stand back to back with a balloon between them. They try to get to the finish line by either walking or jumping without dropping the balloon. If they do, they can bend over, put it back and continue.
The first team to finish wins
MITTEN RELAY
2 teams
A pair of mittens for each team
A piece of wrapped candy for each team
The first player puts on the mittens, unwraps the candy, rewraps the candy and hands it and the mittens to the next player.
The team who finished first wins
